Neon by Nestling partners with Water Safety NZ
Five children under four-years-old drown every year in New Zealand – this is five too many. Making sure Kiwi kids are supervised and seen while in and around the water is vital to prevent these tragic incidents.
This is why New Zealand brand Nestling has developed a range of bold, safe, neon children’s swimwear which can be easily seen through water and is supporting Water Safety New Zealand to help improve knowledge of water safety for New Zealand families.
Nestling has just launched their latest Neon range this June and is pledging to donate $1 from every garment sold from their 2025 Neon by Nestling range to Water Safety New Zealand's water survival education. Water Skills for Life teaches practical life-saving water survival skills for our tamariki.
Learning to swim is a great life choice, but learning water survival is the life skill we all need. Water Skills for Life builds water confidence and capabilities that help young New Zealanders be safe where drowning risks are greatest.

Water Safety NZ’s Interventions Lead, Esther Hone, says there is no replacement for adult supervision when it comes to keeping kids safe.
“Supervision is the single most important thing you can do to protect your child from drowning. Adequate supervision means being in close physical contact where you can intervene immediately. Moments of distraction or lapses in supervision remain key contributors to drowning incidents. We have to keep our eyes on our little ones – always.”
The Neon swimwear concept is the result of Nestling reaching out to their passionate customers to hear their views and wish lists for children’s swimwear.
The response was huge and the message was clear, they wanted...“Colours that were easier to spot in and around water. Neon lime green, yellow, orange & pink. Forget the dark blues. Go bold, make it fun with high contrast patterns and colour blocking. Pool and beach ready designs in UPF 50 fabrics with better coverage.”
Nestling’s in-house design and production team in Auckland set to work finding Neon fabrics that would reflect more light than other colours, making them highly visible underwater.
The neon and bright colours in their collection don’t blend in with underwater shadows and surfaces, which enhances visibility and therefore safety in the water. The new Neon range covers sizes from 3 months to 10 years. All swimwear is UPF 50+ and Chlorine Resistant, and was tailored to the Australasian sizing standard including additional sun coverage and comfort, making them the perfect water and sun safe swimwear option this summer.

The Neon by Nestling swimwear range launched in 2024 and quickly became a favourite with many kiwi families.
